...forward sampling...
It seems that with the advent of 'Endtroducing...', there has been a steady stream of beat-makers trying to expand their repetoire into full length song form. What they often lack though, is the ear to understand the ability to manipulate samples from a practically infinite source into a new and nuanced creation. The traditional avenues of 60's and 70's soul-jazz are still a wealth of beautiful sounds, but expanding that view can turn a 'Deadringer' into a 'Since We Last Spoke'. With that in mind, I present today two concurrent selections (short and sweet) by Sun Ra and His Solar-Myth Arkestra, circa '71. I have no idea if they have been sampled by an unknown genius somewhere on the other side of this earth, but if I don't get around to it soon, I suggest someone else give it a try.
